Watch for the Walk Sudbury wayfinding signs around town and get walking!
Community volunteers have put up wayfinding signs along 16 walking routes. Find neighbourhood destinations like parks, trails, and schools. Head downtown, or to other fun destinations like Bell Park. Walk Sudbury wayfinding signs will point you in the right direction, and tell you the distance in minutes and number of steps. It’s closer than you think – so get active, get walking, and have fun exploring your community on foot!
Find a route and plan a walk.
Add some extra time if you’re with small children or walk slowly, take off some time if you walk fast. Using a stroller or mobility device? The signs will let you know if there are stairs coming up. Stairs are also marked on the map.
Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury volunteers have also put up handmade banners along some of the routes, inviting you to take part in fun outdoor activities along the way! These activities are part of "50 things to do before you're 12."
Approximately 25 community volunteers carried out the project.
Walksudbury.ca is managed by Coaltion for a Liveable Sudbury.

We would like to thank the many community volunteers who planned routes, told us the best destinations and what routes worked best in their neighbourhood, led and walked routes, figured out sign locations, came up with lots of great ideas, and put up 198 signs! Volunteers walked ~300km and put in ~200 hours to get it all done. Thank you!
Special thanks to:
- Cindy O’Neil who designed and created each one of the 198 wayfinding signs.
- Rachelle Niemela for website design and creation
- Barbara Nolan for Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe translation
Thanks to our community partners Rainbow Routes Association, Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, EarthCare Sudbury, and Sudbury Student Services Consortium.
This project was inspired by Walk [Your CIty]. Thanks for the inspiration and advice!
We want to hear from you.
Send us some photos of your walk, and we’ll post them!
What was your experience walking the routes? Would you like permanent signs put up? Did the wayfinding signs make sense to you? What did you like? What would you do differently? Let us know.
Hoping to do something similar in your neighbourhood? We can share our experience to help you get started.
